Canberra Girls Grammar School – Science Building

The Science Building project follows on from the very successful Stage 1 Redevelopment works with Canberra Girls’ Grammar School.

 

The Science Building as part of the Stage 2 Redevelopment for Canberra Girls’ Grammar School (CGGS) is a newly constructed building on the site of the original Science and English buildings of the school. The project was developed with CGGS and Cox Architecture through a two stage construction plan, the first being the demolition of the main Science and English buildings for the construction of the Science Building whilst maintaining four separate science classrooms to ensure the continuance of the school program. The second stage of the works required the demolition of the remaining classrooms at the end of the 2011 school year and the construction of the remaining blade walls, terrace and car park to complete the works for Term 1 2012.

 

The three storey building consists of a lower level car park with storage and staff amenities. There are ten Laboratories for Chemistry, Biology and Physics provided over Levels 1 and 2 of the building supported with an additional Classroom, Staff Rooms for the Science, English and Mathematics Faculties, two Meeting Rooms and Student and Staff Amenities. The building is connected to the Classroom Building, part of the CGGS, Stage 1 Redevelopment, via the upper level bridge.
